Joining Procedure

The first step in joining the Aberdeen Chorus is for you to sing a quick song (usually Happy Birthday) for the Musical Director, so that she can decide which part you would be best suited to sing.
You will then be given a learning CD (or you can download tracks for your mp3 player) of 2 songs along with the sheet music, which you can practise for between 3 and 6 weeks. During this time when you come to Chorus there will always be other members willing to take you aside and sing with you until you have your audition which will be with some members of the Music Team.
If you don't pass first time you can try again the following week. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and not nearly as difficult as it sounds!
Membership of the Aberdeen Chorus
Members of the Aberdeen Chorus attend rehearsals each Monday night throughout the year where, in addition to learning songs for performances there is teaching of good singing technique and performance skills.
External coaches (often top barbershop coaches from around the world) are brought in regularly to supplement the skills of the in-house Music Staff and these sessions are normally included in the normal monthly fees described on the right.
Sheet music, audio tracks for learning and most costume items are also provided within the normal monthly fees.
